Julian vs. The Cupcake

Julian had a great first birthday! Mommy started the day by singing Happy Birthday to him in the crib. The morning was pretty typical, but once Daddy got home (during the 2 hour window he had before having to take off out of town for a wedding rehearsal) we got to dig into the presents (books) and his very own cupcake!

 

Test run for next weekend when he gets his REAL cake!

I'm pleased to say he actually did take a taste - something I highly doubted he would do.

Once Daddy left, he went down for a nap and then Mommy and Grandma met up with Mommy's friend and her family and we all hung out at the fair for a few hours. Julian got to meet cows (and baby cows!), goats (one which made him cry for reasons mommy cannot figure out), chickens, rabbits, turkeys and lots of other fun creatures. He then got to take his very first carousel ride! We finally got him home a little after 9pm and I put my new little 1 year old to bed in his crib just 2 minutes after his actual birth time. Boy, was he tired!!

PS - Mommy did survive her very first night away from baby, but we're not so sure how Grandma is holding up. ;)
