Buddies

When we got pregnant (what seems like a thousand years ago), we figured our #1 problemo was going to be our giant, somewhat bully of a cat Biscuit. Biscuit was always very tame and loving towards Eddie and I, but the moment anyone else entered the house, he got mean - really mean. It was worrying.

Julian and Biscuit's relationship started in the womb. It would always make me giggle when Biscuit would inevitably lay on my growing belly, only to get jabbed in the head or the side by a flailing baby appendage. He always jumped up, startled, and looked down at my belly like "WTF??"  I couldn't blame him.

Since then we've had little to worry about when it comes to this particular cat (the other cat is a whole other story.) When J was just a tiny infant, Biscuit would get worked up when he cried - walking around at our feet and meowing. He still does. That doesn't mean he doesn't get annoyed with our kid, because how could you blame him when he gets poked and crawled all over every day? Still, he's never truly hurt Julian (a swat here and there or a 'fake bite' when J was doing something particularly uncomfortable). He's been a good buddy, and I'm glad that Julian has had the ability to grow up with an animal in the house...I think it has taught him a lot of little life lessons along the way.

Here's to Biscuit...the cat that will happily bloody anyone else's child but our own (or as Julian calls him - Mimi)
  ;)
(Mimi is our other, evil cat whose name is apparently easier to say!)

That last picture is priceless! What a great thing for the two of them to have such a good relationship. Rose and my cat's 'tolerate' each other. Someday I'm going to have to get her a pet of her own so that she can have an animal that doesn't walk the other way when she comes in a room. :)
